Welcome to my blog!

I worked with Alexander Allman-Varty 1301, Ryan Evans 1321 and Milo Gammond 1323.
I hope you enjoy my blog, which contains work on the G322, the titles and openings of a fictional sports film which I named 'Nine'.

My final piece follows immediately underneath. My evaluation questions are above.

DRONE

Drone

When my group realised that we needed more diverse shots to improve our production overall, we thought of using a quadcopter drone that the school has. We decided to arrange a meeting time where we could use the drone, and when everyone else was free to film. I directed the shots on how they look, and then we evaluated the clips after we had filmed them. Below is a picture of the drone we used.

Here is a YouTube link to the RAW Drone Footage.

PRELIMINARY EXERCISE

BFI STUDY DAY

BFI Study Day

At my A-Level study day presented by Matt Hall at the BFI on the 9th of February 2016, we were offered definitions for three types of audiences; arthouse, multiplex, and crossover. Arthouse is the label given to audiences who go to small independent cinemas which may show low budget, foreign, and speciality cinema.

Multiplex audiences are the mainstream audiences, who go to cinemas such as Odeon and may be in large social centre's such as shopping malls. Matt Hall also suggested the idea of a crossover audience, that is audiences who were persuaded to see a film because of the prestige and the word of mouth advertisement. It may have gained prestige for a nomination perhaps.

The Study day at the BFI was very interesting and very beneficial for me, and for my group. This was because we gained first hand knowledge on how films are actually distributed, after listening to Robin Gutch, who did a Q&A on his distribution and making of the film, '71.

GLIDECAM

Glidecam

Over the course of making our AS level production, my group realised that we perhaps needed some specialist equipment to fulfil the shots we wanted. We decided that we needed to perhaps acquire a Glidecam. When we recieved the Glidecam through the post, we quickly unboxed it an watched various videos on how to balance it, and how to use it effectively.
